Full Description:
According to the U.S. Department of Justice, a parent is the perpetrator in most homicides of children under the age of 5.
We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit public charity formed to educate the public about filicide and provide prevention and support programs to families.
Approximately five children per day are the victims of fatal child abuse or neglect which is only one type of filiicide. To decrease stress, parents must feel comfortable asking for help, without fear of condemnation, if they have negative thoughts about their children. Secrets are isolating and lead to feelings of depression, guilt, isolation, shame, helplessness, hopelessness, frustration, anger and a sense of failure. We need to work together to address filicide risk factors and provide positive solutions before coping skills are tragically exhausted.
We offer community education, psychoeducation for mothers, parent skills education, anger management and filicide-suicide prevention training and support groups for parents and survivors of completed filicides.
